HVAC
Frequently Asked Questions

All manufacturers recommend to have your system checked twice per year.

Some manufacturers will ask for service records for warranty purposes (depending on issue).

When your system is maintained properly it will keep the unit running at optimal levels. It could also serve as an early detection for potential failures or safety issues.

It is not recommended, the dust particles in the air that the filter normally catches will collect on the evaporator coil and blower. This will eventually restrict the air flow which will affect cooling performance.

On average a system can last between 10 to 25 years with preventative maintenance. The life expectancy of any HVAC system or equipment depends on the preventative maintenance and service performed on them, as well as the type of equipment and your usage. You want to always have a qualified HVAC technician perform maintenance at least twice a year on your equipment.

Look online for comparisons on flush ratings, as well as available rebates on high–efficiency models.

Consider features such as pressure assists and heightened thrones when choosing a toilet.

Any low–flow toilet that uses 1.28 gallons per flush (GPF), has a MaP score of 1,000 and a 16.5-inch bowl height is recommended. Look for a WaterSense–certification on the label as well. Find a low–flow toilet that’s efficient and saves on water, yet has the power to wash away waste.

Remove odor from your garbage disposal by using items like lemons, baking soda and vinegar.

If your kitchen drain is taking longer to empty, then a clog is forming, perhaps deep in the drain. A plunger may be able to pull out the obstruction. It may actually have to be moved for proper cleaning.

How long a water heater lasts depends on how well it is maintained, the water quality in your area, proper installation, and amount of use.

Conventional water heaters, called ‘storage’ units, transfer heat from a burner or coil to water in an insulated tank. The down side to a conventional water heater is that energy is consumed even when no hot water is being used.

Tankless water heaters do not contain a storage tank like conventional water heaters. A gas burner or electric element heats the water only when there is a demand for hot water.
